Brain Balance

Are you seeking an after-school program that can address and resolve your child’s behavioral, academic, and/or social challenges? The Brain Balance Achievement Center of Jacksonville offers a drug-free, multi-modal approach that is individualized to your child’s needs in addressing the underlying issue of your child’s daily struggles. Our holistic program designed for children in K-12th grades utilizes sensory-motor activities, cognitive training, and nutrition to assist your child in improving his academic performance, become more focused, and better behaved. Children who participate in the Brain Balance Program® do not always have a diagnosis, but often do exhibit characteristics of ADHD (type 1 and 2), Dyslexia, Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD), a Learning and/or Processing Disorder, Asperger’s, High-functioning Autism, Tourette’s, OCD, and PDD. The characteristics displayed by these various diagnoses share a common fundamental problem, an imbalance between the two hemispheres of the brain. Such an imbalance results in a Functional Disconnection. Simply stated, a functional disconnection refers to the lack of proper communication and processing that should take place between the two sides of the brain. Such faulty communication creates the difficulties observed in your child’s behaviors, academics, and social skills. Your child need not struggle any longer. There is Hope. The Brain Balance Program® addresses the root cause to your child’s daily difficulties vs. treating the symptoms.

Michael Murphy Piano Lessons

Michael sings and plays piano at the Jacksonville Town Center's Seasons 52 on the weekends. For 14 years he has performed all over town. From restaurants, country clubs and night clubs to weddings, hotels and private events. Michael is the dance musician for Jacksonville University and band director for his church. Mr. Murphy takes pride in his unique teaching techniques. "I was trained in classical music from age 3 to 18. Up till 16 I could play whatever I practiced, note for note, but I felt confined and limited. I didn't understand chords, phrasing, improvisation, motifs or composition and this made my repertoire limited." Michael started composing New Age music at age 16 as he experimented with the art of writing music. "I started to live and breath music once I began writing because it became so interesting, and created numerous new questions". Inspired by his mentor Yanni, Michael Murphy has released 8 albums that are sold on the Internet and iTunes, peeking special interests in South Korea and Japan. At age 17 Michael started playing around town professionally to put himself through the University of North Florida graduating with a degree in Business Management.
Michael Murphy uses his 27 years of music experience and applies varied methods to the vast perceptions his students have regarding the art. Michael takes great pride in providing his students with the ability to speak the language of music. Giving them an infinite repertoire and enjoyment to be artists, entertainers and more confident individuals.
