Behind Every Smile: The Heart of Henry Advanced Orthodonticswww.henryadvancedorthodontics.com │ 491 Prosperity Lake Drive, St. Augustine FL 32092 │ (904) 429-0095 Tucked in the heart of northern St. Johns, Henry Advanced Orthodontics has built a reputation not just for beautiful smiles—but for heartfelt care. At the helm is Dr. Henry, a highly trained and deeply compassionate orthodontist whose journey has taken him from Mississippi to Alaska, and finally to sunny Florida, where he's made it his mission to transform lives—one smile at a time.
With a background in pediatric dentistry and a passion for early orthodontic intervention, Dr. Henry brings both technical skill and emotional insight to his practice. Patients, young and old, are welcomed like family and treated with a level of care that goes beyond straight teeth. In our interview, Dr. Henry shares what makes his approach unique, why he's so committed to his patients’ confidence, and the unforgettable moment when one young patient with a cleft palate saw her new smile begin to take shape—for the first time. Can you share a memorable success story or moment with a patient? Every smile reveal is special and creates a lot anticipation. But, recently a cleft palate patient missing 5 upper anterior teeth was given two pontic (fake) teeth to her braces. I did not see the tears at first, but afterward she explained how she could see her smile beginning to take shape. This moment really tugs at the heart strings when you think about how much someone like her has gone through her whole life. Where are you originally from and what brought you to St. John’s? I'm originally from Mississippi. Went to school University of Mississippi Medical Center then University of Kentucky for Pediatric Dental training and finally St. Louis University for my Masters in Orthodontics. I bought a practice in Alaska and lived there for 12 winters before moving to St. Johns County to be near family. What inspired you to become an orthodontist? After getting my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree I wanted to be more involved with the growth, development of young patients. I wished I had had braces at an earlier age to help boost my confidence through high school. How would you describe the philosophy behind your practice? We try to treat everyone like family and cultivate a positive environment. We strive to achieve the most ideal results through care diagnosis and optimal prognosis. What makes your approach to orthodontics different from others in the area? We are personable in our approach from the beginning no matter how difficult the challenges are in every case. What do you enjoy most about working with patients? Everyone is different whether it's their personality or their chief concerns and this is keeping me sharp. It's making the connection of the person to their best trademark smile. What’s one thing new patients should know before starting treatment with you? I am super focused on achieving the best results possible for their smile. This being said... Usually I am determined to obtain this result for ALL our patients.
