Here are Remy’s four tips on how to create a safe, healthy and memorable Spring Break right here in Northeast Florida. Go Green!
This year, since St. Johns County Spring Break begins on St. Patrick’s Day, why not host an “Everything Green St. Patrick’s Day Parade.” Gather friends and neighbors to join in on the fun - dress up in all your green garb, decorate bikes and strollers with shamrocks and green garland, play Irish music and enjoy a leisurely stroll around your neighborhood. Take a hike Northeast Florida has one of the largest urban park systems in the country which makes hiking, biking and running on scenic trails easy and accessible. At Shearwater, residents can step out of their front door and enjoy 13 miles of hiking trails across 600 acres. You can also check out Stokes Landing Conservation Area, Gourd Island, Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve, and so many more incredible trails in and around Northeast Florida. Pro Tip: Pack bug spray, water and a snack to keep the kids nourished along the way. Outdoor Movie Night Nothing beats an outdoor movie night under the stars. At Shearwater, we are hosting a Spring Break Movie on the Lawn. It’s a great opportunity for neighbors to gather together and enjoy a family-friendly evening watching your favorite flicks. This outdoor movie idea is easy to create at home! Simply rent a projector, hang up a sheet on your garage or between two trees in the backyard and stream your favorite movie from your laptop. Have the kids grab their sleeping bags and pillows to get comfortable on the lawn while you pop popcorn and pass out refreshments. Have a “Yes” Day! Let the kids plan out your entire day by saying “yes” to their requests, within reason of course! Watch as their imaginations run wild with ideas on how they would like to spend their perfect day. Some fun ideas may include eating ice cream for breakfast, building an epic box fort, boogie boarding on our white-sand beaches or visiting Adventure Landing’s shipwreck waterpark. Be sure to document your day so that you can look back on all of the smiles and memories you create. This may not be the Spring Break you were dreaming of, but with some creativity and imagination, it may just be your most memorable yet. With something for everyone, Shearwater’s unique lifestyle program emphasizes active living, proximity to nature and a strong connection to neighbors. Learn more at www.shearwaterliving.com.
